Yukata developed from bath robes into casual summer kimono worn for home use, festivals and informal outings. This example reflects modern post-war casual kimono fashion, using a simple repeated floral pattern and light colouring for easy everyday wear.
The large chrysanthemum motif gives the garment a traditional seasonal reference, while the pale blue palette makes it especially suited to summer styling.
The kimono has been shortened. Removed fabric was retained and made into a matching sash or tie. This should be recorded as a later alteration rather than original construction.
